Above the azure waves of the Indian Ocean lies the "Gem Island" favored by God—Sri Lanka. Aside from its dazzling gems, this land nurtures Ceylon black tea, one of the world's top three high-aroma black teas.

The high-altitude mountains lower the temperatures, while the alternating heavy rains brought by the Indian Ocean monsoon and the blazing sunshine of the dry season satisfy all conditions for tea plant growth. Since then, black tea has taken root and sprouted in this land, gradually becoming Sri Lanka's gift to the world.

For Boduo, stepping into Sri Lanka is not merely about finding a good cup of tea, but rather an in-depth supply chain exploration at the source of raw materials. From production areas and tea gardens to processing and professional evaluation, we hope to bypass the layers of information transmission to directly understand the most authentic quality, price, and supply status of raw materials, searching globally for raw material solutions that combine quality advantages with cost competitiveness.

Deep into the Source: Understanding a Leaf from the Origin

In this country known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean," tea is not just a beverage, but a legend spanning over a century. Recently, the Boduo R&D team traveled far to Sri Lanka and ventured deep into the central highland tea region of Nuwara Eliya to launch a traceability journey from tea garden to teacup.

The car traveled all the way south from Kandy, the holy city of the central mountain region in Sri Lanka, with the destination being Nuwara Eliya—the representative of Ceylon high-grown black tea, known as the "City of Tea."

The rolling green tea plantations resembled thick, lush carpets spread across the winding, terraced mountainsides. Tamil female tea pickers, dressed in vibrant sarees, were scattered among the green tea gardens, skillfully plucking the "two leaves and a bud" from the tips of the branches. The unique high-altitude geographical environment endows the tea leaves with fresh, elegant floral and fruit aromas alongside a light and lively taste.

The black tea produced here is praised by the international market as the "champagne of black teas."

This inspection received warm hospitality and full support from well-known Sri Lankan tea enterprises. Accompanied by their professional team, Boduo R&D personnel were able to go deep into the core production areas and engage in face-to-face exchanges with local tea farmers, unlocking the unique charm of Ceylon black tea up close.

From Origin to Cup: Establishing Tea Application Selection Standards

To select exceptional quality Ceylon black teas, the Boduo R&D team initiated an immersive tasting experience in Sri Lanka.

The team selected representative samples from a variety of high-grown black teas freshly produced that day, brewed them one by one according to professional evaluation procedures, and gained a deep understanding of key information such as the altitude, harvesting batch, and fermentation duration corresponding to each tea.

R&D personnel meticulously compared and repeatedly discussed each tea sample using standard steps: observing the liquor color, smelling the aroma, tasting the flavor, and inspecting the infused leaf base.

For beverage raw materials, "expensive" does not equal "suitable." Beyond aroma and taste, Boduo pays closer attention to tea liquor concentration, stability, compatibility with milk and other ingredients, and comprehensive cost performance after large-scale application.

Through thorough communication and collision of ideas, two distinct and impressive Ceylon black teas stood out:

01. High-Aroma Ceylon Black Tea

This tea is a granular broken black tea with tight and uniform granules. The liquor is bright orange-red, clear, and transparent. Amidst woody notes, the tail-end fruit notes are elevated and bright with rich layers. Smooth on the palate, the fruit and woody aromas intertwine, and the lingering finish is fresh and sweet, leaving a deep impression. It is suitable for fresh milk teas, light milk teas, and pure tea products that highlight tea aromas.

02. Mellow Ceylon Black Tea

This tea comes in a flaked broken black tea form, with dry tea leaves exhibiting a dark and lustrous color. When brewed, the liquor is reddish-brown, thick, and bright, with a steady and introverted woody aroma. Featuring a higher degree of fermentation, it offers a mellow and full-bodied taste upon entry with a slightly stronger astringency, bringing a clean and crisp sensory experience with a lingering aftertaste where woody notes persist. With a steady and powerful style, this tea is suitable for milk teas, flavored teas, and product applications requiring higher tea liquor concentration.

Both black teas originate from the Nuwara Eliya highland tea region, boasting superior quality and distinctive flavor profiles.

Relying on global supply chain resources, Boduo is further streamlining the supply chain chain from origin sourcing, product selection, and processing to overseas delivery, reducing unnecessary intermediate links to ensure stable quality while making products more cost-competitive.

Continuously Improving the Global Supply Chain: Boduo Moves Forward Unstoppably

Behind a good cup of tea lies the terroir of the origin, the craftsmanship of the tea farmers, and an unremitting pursuit of quality. This trip to the Nuwara Eliya highland tea region in Sri Lanka is an important step for Boduo into globally premium supply chain regions.

Boduo has always regarded supply chain construction as one of the core strategies for the enterprise's long-term development. We deeply understand that only by going deep into the source can we truly understand the essence of products; only by establishing deep cooperative relationships with premium production areas can we achieve full-link quality control from cultivation and processing to terminal applications.

Therefore, we focus not only on tea leaves, but also cast our sights on agricultural product regions with advantages worldwide. Boduo will continue to pioneer and expand, establishing long-term stable strategic partnerships with more world-class suppliers.
